FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $100,000 in agricultural services equipment as part of the 2017-18 capital budget.
“Agriculture is a vital and historic part of our rural economy,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet. “This investment will allow the department to continue to provide efficient, high-quality services and support to producers.”
The department will use the funds to purchase field equipment, such as veterinary boxes, ultrasound and X-ray machines, used by provincial veterinarians. Outdated lab equipment at the Potato Development Centre, the Plant Propagation Centre and the veterinary laboratory will also be replaced.
“Updating equipment helps expand agricultural opportunities, an important component of the New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan,” said Doucet. “Strategic investments in agricultural services helps our farmers and sustains growth in the industry, long after the capital project has been completed.”
