FREDERICTON (CNB) – The Princess Margaret Bridge in Fredericton will close on Wednesday, May 11, at 7 p.m., and remain closed until Sept. 5.

"Now that the risk of flooding along the St. John River has diminished, we have made the decision to move forward with the closure," said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams. "This four-month closure will be challenging, and I urge Fredericton-area residents and all motorists to exercise patience and take advantage of the alternate forms of travel provided."

To find out more about alternate travel routes, public transit information, and the Park and Go and Park and Ride bus shuttle initiatives, visit the department homepage.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic to accommodate the final phase of repairs to the 52-year-old structure. The work is being carried out by SNC Lavalin Inc.
