FREDERICTON (GNB) - Spring weight restrictions will be lifted from highways in southern New Brunswick on Sunday, May 14, and in northern New Brunswick, weight restrictions will remain in place until midnight on Sunday, May 21.

Weight restrictions for trucks are imposed each year to protect highways from damage during the spring thaw.

“There has been significant rainfall in New Brunswick recently and the ground remains saturated in several areas,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “As a result, some of our secondary routes will remain restricted or closed to trucks until conditions improve.”

District engineers are authorized to close roads to trucks or to impose weight restrictions on highways or portions of highways at any time to protect them.
