Three retailers fined / licences suspended for selling tobacco to minors (09/11/02)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - Three retailers have been fined and will have their tobacco licence suspended for a month for selling tobacco to persons younger than 19.

The Department of Finance, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, took action against the retailers in accordance with Section 5 (1) of the Tobacco Sales Act.

The retailers were fined $288, and their licence to sell tobacco products will be suspended from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1. The fines and suspensions were issued to:

  • Roy's Convenience Store, 184 Mountain Rd., Moncton;
  • Shediac Road One Stop, 100 Shediac Rd., Moncton; and
  • Needs # 206, 293 High St., Moncton.
