FREDERICTON (CNB) – New Brunswickers are reminded that they have a number of ways to pay their property taxes by the deadline – the end of the day on Tuesday, May 31 – should a work stoppage occur at Canada Post. The Department of Finance issued this reminder today.

While the great majority of property taxes are due May 31, some may have an amended date.

Property tax payments may be made in the following ways:

•    Service New Brunswick: Cheques can be deposited in drop-off boxes at any Service New Brunswick service centre;
•    online: Payments can be made online through the bill payment site set up by the financial institution used by the individual;
•    bank or other financial institution: Over the counter, telephone banking, or at an  automated teller machine.

Monthly remittances of tobacco and fuel taxes by tax collectors:

Monthly remittances of fuel and tobacco taxes by collectors are due by the 25th day of each month. These remittances should be either forwarded by courier services to the Department of Finance or dropped off at any Service New Brunswick service centre. Late remittances will continue to be subject to penalty and interest.

Applications for rebates and benefits such as the Low Income Seniors Benefit, the Home Energy Assistance Benefit and the New Brunswick Tuition Rebate:

Applications for rebates under these programs together with any required supporting documentation should be dropped off at any Service New Brunswick service centre.
