FREDERICTON (GNB) – Home Energy Assistance Program forms are now available for 2014.

The $100 benefit helps low-income families cope with high-energy prices. The one-time payment will be provided to those who have incomes up to, and including, $28,000 in 2012.

“This program helps New Brunswickers keep warm through the coldest months of the year,” said Finance Minister Blaine Higgs.

The provincial government re-introduced the program in 2010. More than 47,400 applications were received in 2013 for a total benefit to New Brunswick families of about $4.74 million.

“We are pleased to continue with this important program again this year,” said Social Development Minister Madeleine Dubé. “For New Brunswick families that need help paying their heating bills, this funding can be a critical safety net that allows them to keep their homes warm, safe and comfortable.”

Individuals may apply by going to the Department of Finance website or by calling 1-800-669-7070. Forms are also available at Service New Brunswick outlets.
