FREDERICTON (GNB) – Applications are now available for the 2015 home energy assistance program to help low-income families with winter energy bills.

“Making life easier and more affordable for New Brunswick families is one of our government’s top priorities,” said Finance Minister Roger Melanson. “With this in mind, we are pleased to offer the home energy assistance program again this year.”

The program provides a one-time, $100 benefit to families with a total income of $28,000 or less in 2013.

More than 46,000 applications were received in 2014 for a total benefit of $4.6 million for New Brunswick families.

“Helping those who need it most is a commitment of Moving New Brunswick Forward,” said Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers. “We are pleased to continue this important program to give a hand up to those who need it most.”

Individuals may obtain applications online on the Department of Finance website or by calling 1-800-669-7070. Forms are also available at Service New Brunswick outlets.
