DALHOUSIE (CNB) – The Restigouche Farmers’ Market officially opened in Dalhousie today. The ceremony was attended by Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault and representatives from four surrounding municipalities.

“Enhancing infrastructure such as the Restigouche Farmers’ Market is a benefit to the entire community of Restigouche East,” said Arseneault. “Today's celebration is about local farmers and businesses having a strong local market for their products and enabling area residents having access to fresh products.”

Funding of $860,000 through the Regional Development Corporation was used to construct the market, accommodating up to 34 interior and four exterior stalls, offering a variety of fresh farm produce and craft products.

“We would like to thank the provincial government for their support in this most important community project for Dalhousie and Restigouche east,” said Dalhousie Mayor Clem Tremblay.
