BATHURST (CNB) – The provincial government is investing $500,000 for infrastructure improvements to the Bathurst Aquatic Centre.

"As we encourage our residents to become more physically active, we must ensure all our regions have access to recreational infrastructure,"said Premier David Alward."The provincial government is proud to work with local communities  to make this project a reality for Bathurst and the Chaleur region."

"The City of Bathurst is very pleased to have the financial help from our provincial government," said Bathurst Mayor Stephen Brunet. “The repairs are absolutely essential to the continued use of this facility. This work should lead to another 15 to 20 years of enjoyable use by the residents of our city and region."

Funding provided through the Regional Development Corporation will be used to help defray the costs of retrofitting the centre. The work includes repairing or replacing a number of mechanical and electrical systems as well as the pool and building components.
