TRACADIE (GNB) – A celebration took place today to mark the completion of the newly-upgraded playground at École La Villa des Amis.

“We are proud to be a partner in this important project through the government’s Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program,” said Environment and Local Government Minister Serge Rousselle. “It is important to encourage our children to become more physically active. By investing in recreational infrastructure we can improve their quality of life.”

Rousselle spoke on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

The provincial government invested $29,000 through the Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program towards the purchase of a new outdoor play structure as well as sports infrastructure for the soccer field.

“We want the kids of the school and community to be active and to offer a place that families can enjoy for free,” said Chantal Brideau, president of the parents committee at École La Villa des Amis. “This project was made possible by the many volunteers on the committee and working in partnership with the provincial government.”
