SAINT-ANDRÉ (GNB) – Grand Falls Agromart, a company in the agricultural support sector, will undertake a $420,000 capital investment at its facility in Saint-André with support from the provincial government. The project is also expected to create two additional full-time jobs.

“Helping grow successful export operations, especially in key industries like agriculture, is an important component of your government’s economic growth plan,” said Victoria-La Vallée MLA Chuck Chiasson. “Agromart has built a strong reputation in this industry, and it is exciting to see them undertaking investments of this size in Saint-André. This is just another example of how we are getting things done on behalf of New Brunswick’s working families.”

Chiasson attended for Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also the minister responsible for Opportunities NB.

To support this growth, the company is eligible to receive investments from the Regional Development Corporation and Opportunities NB, which is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across New Brunswick.

“This is an exciting time for the Agromart team,” said president and CEO Danny Blanchette. “This investment will allow us to upgrade our liquid fertilizer plant equipment, which will increase capacity, increase production and increase revenues. We would like to thank both Opportunities NB and the Government of New Brunswick for their support as we continue to innovate and grow our exports in an environmentally responsible fashion.”

The Regional Development Corporation is providing a $34,670 contribution, while Opportunities NB is providing a contribution of $44,670. It is estimated that this investment will contribute an additional $606,000 to the province’s GDP over a six-year period. Grand Falls Agromart currently employs 12 people in full-time positions and another six employees seasonally.

The company provides crop protection products and services, as well as tissue and soil analysis, global positioning system rentals and on-farm product delivery. It serves clients in Quebec, Atlantic Canada and the northeastern United States.
