FREDERICTON (CNB) – Social Development Minister Sue Stultz, who is also minister responsible for seniors, housing and community non-profit organizations, will attend the 13th meeting of federal, provincial, and territorial ministers responsible for seniors, June 27-28 in Hamilton, Ont.

"I look forward to attending this meeting," said Stultz. "It will be a pleasure to meet my counterparts from across the country and to participate in the round table discussions on important issues related to seniors."

Discussions for the two-day meeting will focus on the social and economic implications of population aging; housing and living arrangements for seniors; and financial abuse of seniors.

"The reality of a rapidly-aging population is not unique to our province as across the country, other provinces and territories are facing a similar challenge," said Stultz. "It is important to look at the best practices and initiatives that are being undertaken on behalf of seniors in other jurisdictions so that we may learn new and innovative ways to address the challenges that lie ahead."

This is the first time Stultz will participate at the national meeting of ministers responsible for seniors.
