FREDERICTON (GNB) – Public meetings will be held this month and next to engage New Brunswickers on the proposal to open sealed adoption records.

“Everyone who will be affected by the proposed changes is encouraged to read the discussion paper and attend one of the public meetings to have their views heard on this important issue,” said Social Development Minister Madeleine Dubé. “The results of the consultation will form a vital part of our assessment of the merits of opening sealed adoption records.”

The following meetings will be held:

●    Monday, April 28, Fredericton - Fredericton Inn, 1315 Regent St.
●    Tuesday, April 29, Saint John - Holiday Inn Express, 400 Main St.
●    Wednesday, April 30, Moncton - Centennial Park Lodge, 811 St. George Blvd.
●    Monday, May 5, Edmundston - Four Points by Sheraton, 100 Rice St.
●    Tuesday, May 6, Campbellton - Quality Inn, 157 Water St.
●    Wednesday, May 7, Bathurst - Atlantic Host Hotel, 1450 Vanier Blvd.
●    Monday, May 12, Tracadie-Sheila, - Auberge Centre-Ville, 3346 de la Chapelle St.
●    Tuesday, May 13, Miramichi - Howard Johnson Inn and Suites, 1 Jane St.

All of the sessions will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
