WOODSTOCK (GNB) – Residents and members of the Woodstock community joined provincial representatives to turn the sod for the construction of the $9.12 million addition to Carleton Manor.

“As a government, we take the care of our seniors very seriously,” said Premier David Alward. “These additional beds will make a real difference to the residents of Woodstock by allowing their loved ones to stay in the area and continue to be part of the community.”

The addition will add 30 beds to the current facility for a total of 110 beds.

“Seeing this project move forward is exciting,” said Social Development Minister Madeleine Dubé. “Adding beds to the facility will enable more seniors to have access to the quality care and support they need close to home, family and friends.”

The addition to Carleton Manor is part of the provincial government's 2011-2016 Nursing Home Renovation and Replacement Plan, under which 354 nursing home beds and 704 specialized care beds are being created.
