SHERBROOKE, Que. (GNB) – Team NB’s baseball team takes its perfect 3-0 record into the final day of  baseball’s round-robin competition, playing a pair of key matches Tuesday at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que.

The baseball team squares off against Prince Edward Island in the morning followed by an important evening match-up against Team Manitoba.

“We hope to keep it rolling,” said baseball coach Mark Noel. “We have two huge games to play Tuesday.”

On New Brunswick Day, the men’s mountain bike trio of Neil Symington (Sussex), Mattthew Rinehart (Oromocto) and Cole Denovan (Fredericton) placed fifth in the team relay event at Mont Bellevue. Denovan anchored the last leg of the race, passing two teams at the end of the final lap for the fifth spot. Mountain bike returns to the hill on Wednesday for the 800-metre sprint, the final event for mountain bike.

The tennis team sits in fourth spot in its pool, after winning four of its six matches in team mix play against Newfoundland and Labrador Monday. The team were playing Nova Scotia late Monday evening.

Team NB’s wrestlers hit the mat for the first time Tuesday in team competition. The men square off against Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan while the women meet Prince Edward Island British Columbia.

Weather has cancelled Tuesday’s sailing event at Lac Magog. Fraser Wells sits in second place in the laser with duo Simon Leblanc and Damien Robichaud in fourth in the 29er. Gina Ford and Valérie Robichaud sit 8th in 29er while Jill Landry is 7th in laser.

Women’s soccer faces off against Yukon in its final game of the Canada Summer Games Tuesday. Softballers play British Columbia and Nova Scotia Tuesday and a make-up game against Newfoundland and Labrador Wednesday.

Also returning to action Tuesday are men’s basketball, swim team, and both volleyball teams.
