ST. STEPHEN (GNB) – The governments of New Brunswick and Maine are jointly investing $1 million over four years in the Two Nation Vacation marketing partnership.

The investment will go toward the development of an integrated marketing and sales campaign designed to create awareness and interest in vacationing in both countries. The resulting campaign is intended to increase revenue and visitation across the border.

“Our investment in the Two Nation Vacation initiative is a terrific way to leverage opportunities from our strategic tourism partnership with the State of Maine,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Trevor Holder. “Our government is proud to continue working with Maine as together we strive to use strategic and creative ways to grow our province's flourishing tourism industry, while augmenting visitation in Maine, as well.”

In the past, each government invested $50,000 per year in promotional efforts under Two Nation Vacation. Each government will now contribute $125,000 a year for the next four years.

“Tourism is big business in Maine just as it is here in New Brunswick,” said Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner George Gervais. “This investment affirms our commitment to continue working collaboratively, increasing our marketing efforts and our overall competitiveness in attracting new visitors to our region.”

Since 2003, the two governments have worked together to promote their tourism products as part of an international vacation experience. In recent months, Holder helped promote Two Nation Vacation to travel writers in New York.
