FREDERICTON (GNB) – The openings of Mount Carleton and Sugarloaf provincial parks are delayed two weeks due to unseasonable weather.

Mount Carleton was scheduled to open on May 15 and Sugarloaf on May 16. However, several feet of snow remain in the campgrounds at both parks as well as ice on the lake at Mount Carleton, preventing visitors from fishing. The decision was made to open both parks on May 30 to allow for the snow to melt and opening procedures to be completed.

As a result of this delay, Mount Carleton will close on September 14, extending operations by two weeks. Sugarloaf will close on September 28.

Those who made a reservation before May 30th will be contacted and new arrangements made.

Park users will also be notified of the changes through the parks Facebook page and online.
