BANGOR, ME (GNB) – A joint panel discussion at Maine International Trade Day on Thursday, May 15, will include Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Trevor Holder. He will highlight partnerships in relation to tourism and cultural tourism involving New Brunswick and Maine.

“The Two-Nation Vacation partnership has been a spring board for capturing the interest of new tourism businesses and visitors, and has helped us strengthen the partnerships we have with Maine to promote and share our cultural products,” said Holder. “We are working together to highlight ways to increase tourism and related investments and Trade Day, and this panel discussion, will help educate participants and the public on the value of these partnerships.”

Earlier this month, Holder and his counterpart, Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner George Gervais, announced an increased focus and investment in the two-nation vacation partnership for marketing the region as a joint entity.

During the panel discussion, Holder will highlight the ways both jurisdictions collaborate on showing the authentic product the region shares.

“The 2014 World Acadian Congress is an excellent example of New Brunswick, Quebec and Maine working to jointly celebrate our cultural connections while promoting the region,” he said.

New Brunswick and Maine also work together on a cultural initiative which helps artists and arts organizations from both jurisdictions obtain information to demystify and streamline border-crossing processes, foster exchanges of cultural information and cross-border cultural projects, and identify new or expanded cross-border business and cultural tourism opportunities.
