SHEDIAC (GNB) – The provincial government, through the New Brunswick Book Policy, is investing in éMOTions, a literary promotion activity of the Société culturelle Sud-Acadie.

“Supporting an activity like éMOTions, which fosters the development of links between authors and readers, makes it easier to access books and encourages reading among young people and adults,” said Shediac-Beaubassin-Cap-Pelé MLA Victor Boudreau. “This activity also fits in well with the implementation of the Book Policy. The government is proud to support community associations like the Société culturelle Sud-Acadie in their commitment to promoting the vitality of communities by developing and sponsoring various artistic and cultural events.”

Boudreau attended for Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames.

Over the past four years, the society has received $30,000 in literary promotion grants to support the éMOTions program.

For its 2018-19 éMOTions program (website in French only), the society has planned seven literary events with more than 20 professional authors who will share their writings and knowledge.

“The Société culturelle Sud-Acadie is proud to be able to offer a series of more than six events per year to people of all ages in our region,” said president Nathalie Leblanc. “The support we have received from the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture since 2012 allows éMOTions to continue to offer a variety of events every year – including a literary mini-festival, interviews with authors and writing workshops – with our partners the Frye Festival, the Bouton d’or Acadie publishing company and other community partners.”
