RED DEER, Alta. (GNB) – New Brunswick’s women’s curling squad will play for a bronze medal on Saturday, March 2 at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.

The foursome composed of Rachel Brewer, Erica Cliff, Ashley Cormier and Deanna MacDonald will play Nova Scotia in the medal match. The curlers lost to Manitoba in Friday night’s semifinal.

Team New Brunswick will enter the last day of competition on Saturday with nine medals (one gold, three silver and five bronze).

The women’s hockey team will play for seventh place in an early-morning match. Team New Brunswick lost 3-2 in overtime to Manitoba on Friday evening.

The alpine ski team will head to Canyon Ski Resort for morning ski cross qualifications followed by final race heats in the afternoon.

Cross-country skiers will return to the trails for the mixed gender 4x5-km race.

The badminton team will hit the court for seventh-place placing in team competition.

Following Saturday’s competitions, Team New Brunswick will participate in the evening closing ceremonies before returning home.
