FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers can now share their opinions and buying habits on local food and beverages through an online survey.

“Through the Buy Local tour, we have seen firsthand how New Brunswickers are enthusiastic about choosing local food and beverages and learning more about what products are available,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet. “This survey will provide us with an opportunity to collect and analyze those opinions. The information collected from the survey will help us focus our efforts in the development of our local food and beverage strategy, an important commitment we have made to growers and producers.”

The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, includes questions about the importance of supporting local producers, where local food is purchased and what can be done to improve accessibility of local food and beverages for consumers. Participants can also choose to have their name entered into a draw for a basket of New Brunswick products. The information collected will only be used for the purposes of the survey and the draw. The survey is available for completion now through October.

“Visitors to any of our Buy Local tour stops can receive a copy of the survey to complete on the spot or a card to direct them to the website,” said Doucet. “I invite all New Brunswickers to share their opinions, which will complement our ongoing consultation with stakeholders as we develop our strategy.”
