FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswick farmers will be opening their doors Sunday, Sept. 17, to give the public a first-hand look at operations.

“The healthy and delicious food coming from New Brunswick farms has earned a spot at dinner tables near and far,” said Agriculture, Mines and Rural Affairs Minister Andrew Harvey. “Open Farm Day is the perfect occasion to learn more about the dedication of the people working in our agriculture sector.”

A wide range of farms are participating including livestock operations, vegetable farms, apple orchards, and others. Open Farm Day gives people of all ages the opportunity to see where their food comes from and how farms operate.

The day is an initiative of the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick and is supported by the provincial and federal governments.

“Open Farm Day is a great time to meet local farmers and experience life on the farm,” said federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Lawrence MacAulay. “I encourage New Brunswickers to come see the world-class products our farmers and farm families produce to feed Canadians and the world.”

A complete list of participating farms is posted on the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick’s website.

“From produce to livestock, Open Farm Day allows New Brunswickers to interact with participating farms, their food, and the people that keep our families fed,” said Mike Bouma, president of the Agriculture Alliance of New Brunswick. “Come meet your local farmers that keep your table bountiful all year round.”
