FREDERICTON JUNCTION (GNB) – The provincial government will invest about $3.1 million in paving and chip seal projects in Sunbury County this year, part of a $30-million investment in the Greater Fredericton region.
“There is a direct link between investing in roads and bridges and growing the economy,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser. “Your government is committed to making strategic infrastructure investments to keep our economy moving forward.”
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will pave 4.4 kilometres of Route 101 in the Noble Road area. Grading work will continue on Charters Settlement Road.
Chip seal will be applied to sections of Route 655, Byers Road, Charters Road, Darren Road, Little Settlement Road, Lord Road, Phillips Road, Prices Road, Sand Brook Road, West Mill Settlement Road and Whittaker Road.
The department’s $688.2-million capital budget reflects the government’s priority of investing strategically in its buildings, highways and bridges. Strategic investments in infrastructure are a key component of the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan, the government’s framework for growing the economy and creating jobs.
