TRACADIE (GNB) – The provincial government will invest about $4 million in paving, bridge replacement and chip seal projects in the Tracadie area this year, as part of its 2018-19 capital budget.
“To keep the economy strong and to move forward, your government is investing strategically in roads, highways and bridges,” said Tracadie-Sheila MLA Serge Rousselle. “We are maintaining and improving our transportation infrastructure and this will in turn help spur economic development and create jobs.”
Rousselle attended for Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will continue with the replacement of the Thomas Odilon Bridge on Route 365, which is close to a $2.1 million-dollar investment.
The department completed paving a 3.1-kilometre section of Route 150 from the Route 160 area to the Frigault Road area, and will pave a 1.3-kilometre section of Route 370 from Route 11 to Rivière-du-Portage North Road.
As well, the department will micro surface sections of Alderwood Road and will chip seal a 1.9-kilometre section of George Road.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s $688.2 million capital budget reflects the government’s priority of investing strategically in its buildings, highways and bridges. Strategic investments in infrastructure are a key component of the multi-year New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan, the province’s framework for growing the economy and creating jobs.
