MIRAMICHI (CNB) - The provincial government is making an investment to support the Miramichi Boys and Girls Club.

Miramichi - Bay du Vin MLA Bill Fraser made the announcement on behalf of Business New Brunswick Minister Victor Boudreau, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

"These investments will help improve our quality of life, strengthen our communities and help us toward our goal of self-sufficiency," said Fraser.

The total investment is $180,000. Of this amount, a one-time investment of $136,000 will support an after-school program run by the club. The other $44,000 will be provided under the Regional Development Corporation's Family and Youth Capital Assistance Program (FYCAP) to make infrastructure improvements at the club

The FYCAP gives community groups, non-profit organizations, local service districts and municipalities involved in youth- and family-related activities an opportunity to apply for funding for eligible capital costs of projects in support of these activities.
