SHIPPAGAN (CNB) – The provincial government is investing in infrastructure improvements at Camping Shippagan.

Premier Shawn Graham and Shippagan Mayor Jonathan Roch Noël took part in the announcement.

“This is an important community infrastructure project for Shippagan and the Acadian Peninsula,” said Graham. “Our investment will help generate employment and tourism, which are key to growing our economy and bringing our kids back home to New Brunswick.

“Enhancing the visitor experience through investments in tourist infrastructure is an objective identified in An Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency in Northern New Brunswick 2010-2013.”

Under the Northern New Brunswick Infrastructure Initiative, the provincial government is investing $327,500 in infrastructure improvements to Camping Shippagan. The project includes: construction of splash pads, a playground and improvements to the sewer system and dock.

“The Town of Shippagan is very grateful that the New Brunswick government is investing in improvements to Camping Shippagan to enable our residents and our tourists to enjoy a relaxing, unforgettable experience while contributing to the profitability of this wonderful site,” said Noël.
