SACKVILLE (CNB) – Representatives from three levels of government joined local residents today to officially open Sackville's water tower. The tower will result in a number of improvements to the town's water system.

Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Michael Olscamp; Senator Carolyn Stewart Olsen; and Sackville Mayor Pat Estabrooks participated in the event.

"Today's celebration clearly demonstrates that all three levels of government can work together," said Olscamp. "The improvements to the town's water system, including a new water tower, will help improve the water quality for the residents of Sackville."

Olscamp spoke on behalf of Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud.

"Our government has been working together with provincial and municipal governments to deliver results to the people of New Brunswick through important improvements and upgrades to municipal water systems," said Stewart Olsen."Our federal investment of more than $1.2 million through the Building Canada Fund will make a difference in the quality of life for the people who live and work in Sackville, preserving the environment and supporting economic growth for years to come."

"We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the federal and provincial counterparts for partnering and sharing the cost of the water tower," said Estabrooks. "The elevated water storage tank will improve the water quality for our community and this is council's number one priority."
