FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following statement was issued today by Social Development Minister Sue Stultz, who is also minister responsible for seniors, housing and community non-profit organizations, in recognition of June being Seniors Month:

Seniors Month is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution seniors have made, and continue to make, in New Brunswick and across Canada.

Seniors are the heart of our province and have built the New Brunswick we are so fortunate to call our home today. Our senior population is growing rapidly, giving them an even stronger voice in the growth and progress of our province.

The leadership, energy and skills of seniors continue to benefit our communities. Therefore, it is important that we work together to enhance the quality of life of our seniors and make sure the opportunities and challenges presented by an aging population are met with success.

I thank our seniors for their contributions to society. During Seniors Month, and each day, I encourage all New Brunswickers to show our seniors the respect and admiration they so richly deserve.
