PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. (GNB) – Team New Brunswick returns to full competition today, Monday, at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

After a seven-medal performance during the first week of the Games, Team New Brunswick enters the second week of competition in several sports, including the return to squash and a first-time ever appearance in trampoline. Judo, badminton, figure skating, synchronized swimming, cross-country skiing, women’s curling and men’s hockey are all included this week.

The men’s hockey team lost 5-3 to host British Columbia, in a late evening match. New Brunswick plays Team Ontario in a Monday afternoon game.

In squash competition, Stéphanie Babineau (Moncton) and Luke Burton (Fredericton) each lost 3-0 to their opponents. The women’s curling foursome of Brigitte Comeau, Justine Comeau, Emma LeBlanc and Keira McLaughlin, all of Fredericton, participate in two draws Monday against Alberta and Quebec, respectively. The cross-country skiers hit the trails at Otway Nordic Centre in several events, including the classic men’s 10 kilometre, the women’s seven kilometre as well as the para male 2.5 kilometre standing classic.

Badminton and figure skating also starts their respective competition today while synchronized swimming, trampoline and judo continue practice sessions.
