ALMA (GNB) – New Brunswick will host the second Quietest Concert Ever featuring recording artist Serena Ryder at Herring Cove Beach in Fundy National Park on Saturday, Aug. 29.

The concert is being presented by Parks Canada and CBC Music in collaboration with Ryder, Universal Music Canada, Sennheiser electronic company and the provincial government.

"Our government is proud to partner with Parks Canada, national and international organizations and artists that bring creative cultural activities to our communities in New Brunswick," said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Bill Fraser. “This cultural event is the perfect opportunity to showcase New Brunswick's Bay of Fundy, which is one of Canada’s premiere tourism destinations, and for music lovers to experience and to enjoy this spectacular natural attraction.”

The concert will take place on the ocean floor, at low tide, in a dramatic coastal setting. To amplify this unique experience, the concert will be transmitted directly to each fan through Sennheiser’s wireless headphone technology.

Tickets to the concert are free but can only be won through contests and giveaways. Fans will need to follow Parks Canada’s website or Twitter feed to find out more.

The first such concert was in Banff National Park in 2013. The quietest concert experience is one of the ways that Parks Canada is connecting young Canadians with nature and history so they can share their experiences with their peers and inspire them to be leaders in conserving and protecting Canadian natural and cultural heritage.

“Music is one of the greatest forces for connecting people to one another, and to a moment in time,” said Geri Syroteuk, Field Unit Superintendent at Fundy National Park on behalf of Leona Aglukkaq, minister of the Environment and minister responsible for Parks Canada. “The idea of combining music with technology and presenting it in one of Canada’s most iconic national parks is very exciting and one of the many innovative ways of building connections between young Canadians and our national heritage.”

Ryder’s latest album, Harmony, achieved platinum-selling status shortly after its release. Over the years she has won six Juno Awards, one Canadian Screen Award and one Much Music Video Award.

“There are very few places on earth as beautiful as the Bay of Fundy and it is an honour for me to be invited to play my songs in such a breathtaking setting in front of music fans,” said Ryder. “Our national parks are our treasure and I am humbled to work with Mother Nature in all her glory on this project.”
