Export Permit (Wildlife)
Natural Resources and Energy Development
Overview
Required to export any wildlife parts, including, but not limited to, pelts of wild or ranched furs, and hides and meat of big game animals.
Eligibility
Persons in possession of legally harvested or acquired wildlife parts may be eligible for a permit. Please contact your local office for further information (below).
Description
The most common use for wildlife export permits is to ship furbearer pelts for auction or sale, or to deliver furbearer pelts to a licensed fur trader within the province for shipment to an auction or sale. A copy of the Export Permit must be enclosed with each shipment or given to the fur trader upon delivery.
Export Permits will not be issued for bobcat, marten or otter pelts unless their carcasses have been turned in to Natural Resources. The Department requires proof in the form of a Wildlife Storage Permit & Carcass Receipt that will be issued at the time of carcass collection. The Wildlife Storage Permit & Carcass Receipt should also be given to the fur trader upon delivery.
A CITES Export Permit is required to export black bear, bobcat or otter outside of Canada. CITES is the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.
